The Mood Board

For our movie “Me Myself and I” we have designed our film to be easily accessible. It’s not targeted to a specific social class nor does the audience have to belong to a certain culture to enjoy it. It’s quite a light-hearted film and consist many aspects of genres. However, we’ve decided to create a mood board to narrow down our main target audience, which happened to be girls in their adolescence.

From the photograph bellow, the main picture which takes up the most space is the man dressed up in different costumes to portray different characters. This photo is meant to symbolize DID (multiple personality disorder), the photo s the centre of the mood board as DID is the main dominating subject of the film; since we are trying to increase awareness regarding this condition. The picture on the upper left side is a girl crying and on the bottom left is of another girl which is bullied. All contains traits of an underdog, an often this occurs during their time at school. Underdog is a theme which appeals to many as one point in everyone’s life they have felt as though they were an underdog; therefore they can relate to our main protagonist May. Being bullied also affects a person’s social life and during time at school, social life is an important aspect as adolescents starts to form relationships outside their family. Many experiences are gained and often it depends on their social life on how much a teenager can enjoy school and their youth. This is where peer pressure, self-searching and crushes happens which will be explored in our film. The books symbolizes education and school, in an adolescents life this is another large factor which influences them greatly. They can relate to the storyline as like May, many teenagers are concerned and stressed over their education particularly during A-levels, the feeling of anxiety of not being sure what to do after school, which is the same time frame as where our film is set. On the top left are the Greek masks for comedy and drama. Many adolescent girls enjoy comedy and a bit of drama-teenage angst. The comedy comes from the surreal way of living which May lives in and drama is to show that the despite the comedic elements it is a subject to be sensitive about, as aside from the typical problems during youth, the main character faces DID which is a challenge not all have to face.
